More than two-thirds of French companies (69%) say they have suffered at least one attempted fraud last year, according to the Fraud Barometer 2022 carried out by Allianz Trade and the association of Financial and Management Control Directors (DFCG), a proportion up 3 points compared to the 2021 edition. Among the techniques used, identity theft and in particular " false supplier fraud” would be the most widespread, mentioned by 45% of respondents. Well known today, this technique consists of a third party pretending to be a supplier and requesting a change of bank details (false bank details) to embezzle funds. A second study on “transfer fraud”, conducted by OpinionWay for publishers Trustpair And Sap, confirms the phenomenon: half of the companies questioned indicate having suffered one (19%) or several (31%) frauds in 2022, which would have been successful in nearly a quarter of cases. Large companies would be the most targeted, particularly in the service, trade and distribution, and industry sectors, for a financial loss most often exceeding 50,000 euros.
While these studies show that companies are now aware of the problem and the increased associated risks, the protection systems remain largely insufficient. In addition to the fact that half of the respondents to the OpinionWay survey rely on their bank to alert them, which however have only limited verification power, more than a quarter are still satisfied with manual checks. While fraudsters are becoming more professional and using ever more sophisticated techniques, processes must be digitized, relying in particular on anti-fraud software integrated into ERP or business solutions (software Purchases, cash management system, etc.). This software makes it possible to automatically carry out a continuous and systematic control of data relating to third parties, limiting attempts at fraud and their outcome. The use of this type of digital tools must be considered all the more so as the threats could multiply in the months and years to come, in an international environment that is increasingly complex and difficult to understand. In order to respond to this problem for their customers, Acxias and its partner Trustpair have integrated automated control directly into the solutions. SAP Ariba.
