To replace its historical solution for managing purchases, procurement and accounts payable, obsolete and no longer maintained by its publisher, Nexans opted for Ariba in 2012 and was accompanied by Acxias.
"After analyzing 10 different solutions, this was the most efficient and economically interesting response, which also facilitated exchanges with suppliers and connection to SAP," explains Thièry Bourany, director of purchasing transformation of the group, recalling the scope addressed by the Ariba Buying module : 3,500 people in 19 countries, for €450 million in indirect purchases and 15,000 suppliers.
A year later, Nexans called on Acxias to deploy the processing of supplier invoices, on the basis of projects already carried out and successful by the agency in this area. For this first mission, it was a question of setting up the dematerialization of invoices for indirect purchases and their integration into the system. By adopting Ariba, Nexans first focused on purchase requests and orders. But very quickly, the group realized that it was interesting to digitize the entire chain, right up to the processing of invoices. “This functionality exists natively in Ariba, but support for suppliers was necessary so that they communicate their invoices in electronic format, says Thièry Bourany. However, Acxias already had good experience on this subject with the Ariba solution”.
